Convert MPEG-DASH to HLS.
This software converts video on demand Dynamic Adaptive Http Stream (MPEG-DASH) content to Apple Http Live Stream (HLS). Very useful when you already have existing MPEG-DASH contents and you need to serve it to existing Apple users who don't want to use 3rd party players to view MPEG-DASH streams.
This tool is currently a command line interface but usage is very very simple, even your grandma can use it with little to no help.
How to use:
In the command-line type (without the quotes).
`dashinterpret.exe in= out=`
Example
`dashinterpret.exe in=./mydashcontent/manifest.mpd out=./myconvertedhls`
The command above will read manifest.mpd from mydashcontent folder of current directory and spit out an HLS stream into myconvertedhls folder of the current directory. Absolute path is also accepted of course.
Requirements:
MPEG-DASH content must be compliant with specifications from DASH-IF interoperability points (find the specs here: http://dashif.org/guidelines/). Most importantly are these points;
Audio and video track is demuxed or in separate track.
Container is in ISOBMFF
Codec is H264 for video and AAC for audio. Support for HEVC/H265 codec will be added in later version.
Manifest is in format. This is the most ideal type of MPEG-DASH manifest for VOD content. Support for other type of manifest will be added in later versions.
Manifest can have multiple and but only the first tag will be processed. Support for ABR or multiple bitrate conversion will be added in later versions.
