Simulate and learn the RC circuit operation.
Today, it is a consensus that the use of computers can help in the teaching-learning process as well as encourage new didactic and pedagogical methodologies to approach the students of physical discipline. Although there are more tablets and smartphones, desktops and notebooks will never go away, as these enables content creation at its core, different from the first that enhance the digital consumer.
The use of virtual laboratories, as in this case, may replace the actual laboratory where
they do not exist, and supplement them as a pre laboratory assessment, or even be used
in distance learning. Virtual RC is a program that simulates a real RC experiment with charge discharge of a capacitor. The program, developed, only runs on Windows an contains a virtual voltage source which feeds a virtual RC circuit, composed of a resistor and a capacitor in series. The resistor can be chosen among five options as well as the capacitor, and the capacitors may differ in capacitance and maximum working voltage.
The program has some resistors and capacitors, which are chosen via a menu bar, voltage adjustment buttons and inversion loading / unloading circuit. Two configurations are possible: in the first configuration a voltmeter is connected to the capacitor in order to measure the voltage across it; in the second configuration the Meter measures the voltage across the resistor. A virtual key switch connects the circuit in position so that the capacitor is charged, and in another position, the capacitor is discharged.
A Virtual timer can be driven, stopped or reset at any time regardless of the operation of
circuit. The virtual experiment consists in raising the tension curves across the capacitor or the resistor as a function of time during charge or discharge of the capacitor. The data collected in a virtual experiment using our program should be entered by the user as it would in an real experiment. The realization of this virtual experience follows a script of practice that accompanies the program.
