ProsIt's free, but so is dog poop in the park.
ConsIt doesn't work after the first backup. If you back up 100GB of data you will use 500GB on the drive (Canvio 1TB HDD). Kind of defeats the pint of having a high capacity backup drive.
SummaryDon't waste your time. As it was pointed out by another user. The drag and drop method is faster and it actually works.

ProsI have used Macrium Reflect and Acronis in the past for my backup programs. Changed to NTI when Macrium did not work when I needed it the most two months ago. I did have copies of my data fortunately (old fashioned Copy / Paste). I dropped Acronis Backup a long time ago because of a major boot issue and system crashes. NTI is an easy, uncluttered, streamlined, backup program which is simple to use. It takes the hassle and computer wizardry out of backup configurations. For testing this program I have done numerous restores without a hitch. It will boot FROM my 500 GB external hard drive in the event I would need to do a system restore, which is very nice. No extra media needed here to boot your system in the case of an emergency like a floppy disk or flash drive. Take the time to read the manual and set the program up to your needs because the answers to your questions are no doubt there. I use this program on my Windows 7, quad 4, 250 GB solid state hard drive system.
ConsAfter two months of use I have no complaints.

ProsJunk has salvage value. This software is garbage and should compost in the landfill.
ConsAll the above, I cannot dispute any previous posts. When my RAID card blew out on boot up and ate the two hard drives attached to it I turned to my Toshiba drive for restore. Trying to open the SW on the desktop either locked it in a BSOD or would open after multiple clicks and then not respond to the restore operation. Useless, except that it had been backing up. That is until I opened it for restore. Then it stopped backing up. I uninstalled and re-installed NTI, even worse. No functioning SW, the drive quit backing up, OMG!
SummarySaved by old fashioned manual back ups. I run all data on a RAID and have a backup data drive in the stack plus an external HDD. I have all data on the RAID and within the SW (Quicken, for example) I back up to the other data drive. This discipline has saved my hide several times, sorry NTI cannot make it work.

VERY slow backup.
Inaccurate backup.
SummaryBought a Toshiba Canvio that came with this software. I tried it out a few times but I never trusted it. For one thing, the data that it would backup was almost always about 75 percent more than the size of actual data I was backing up. I even tried to use the manual settings. I selected about 40GB of data but when the backup ran it showed that there was about 70GB of data to back up. Strange. The interface was slow and quirky. Sometimes it would take several clicks to get the software to respond. The backups were very slow. The initial backup took several hours. Several hours for 40GB of data? The weekly incremental backup usually took about an hour. Why it took that long is a mystery. At best in a week's time I would have less than 100MB of data to backup. In the end, I formatted the Canvio, created a folder with the backup date and manually copy all of my files to the folder. I understand that if you are backing up a lot more data than I do that this would not be an option but for 40GB plus or minus, a total backup takes less than an hour which is faster than NTI took to perform an incremental backup. The nice thing about performing a full back up each time is that I know what files are backed up and can randomly access them when I need individual files. Restoring becomes very easy also, as I am able to drag and drop the backed up data back onto my hard drive. Stay away from this software.

ProsLooks pretty and sounds promising
ConsFails to allow restore of a backup to a different drive. Continually get "No such file or directory" error when attempting to restore. Lost 6 months data due to the failure of this product that came with the Toshiba Canvio USB drive.
SummaryThere is better backup software so don't rely on this to rebuild your system in the event of a crash.

ProsIt was free.
ConsIt isn't worth the price, as I have now wasted an hour of my life trying to get it to work. Installed easily but when executing, does nothing. The fine people at Toshiba should be horribly embarrassed that they ship time-wasting frustrating software with a perfectly good piece of hardware. Shame!

ProsPretty if it works.
ConsToshiba includes with Convio Drives 2&3 TB. Then when you try to get support they tell you the software doesn't work with drives over 2&3 TB for networking. The drive is for networking. USB 3 even. As you can see with other posters even if you are able to get it to work theirs no guarantee it will restore. Just flat out JUNK.
SummaryI know nothing of NTI But for Toshiba???... They should know better. Keeping Toshiba Tossing NTI. Looking for other solution.

Prosthere is nothing professional about this app or anyone who would advertise it and give it a good review.
Consback up my entire computer onto a toshiba external 1tb hard drive.and everytime i try to restore i get errors all across the board. i lost everything.
