RJ TextEd is a unicode text editor with syntax highlighting, code folding, full FTP client, HTML preview, spell checking, and email support. The editor can use any language with the use of a language file. A syntax definition file editor is included. Adds HTML preview tab using Mozilla Active X (Firefox) component, both IE and Firefox preview tabs have full browser capabilities, and add or edit folder favorites in explorer tabs. Adds advanced column mode, new extended search, new search features Internal browsers (IE and Firefox) Reformatting of paragraphs and selected text, new folding options, new print options, and uses TopStyle Lite.

"Simplest the most feature packed free editor available!"

ProsYes, it is complex simply because it so full featured. Don't download if all you need is a basic Notepad replacement. Download if you need a sophisticated editor with customizable language syntax highlighting, auto complete, tag matching, html preview, code folding, ftp edit, bookmarks, project manager with virtual folders, regex & folder-based search/replace, etc etc. The list goes on and on.Constantly being updated with new features.
ConsYou WILL encounter occasional bugs. But that's not that much of a con because the author is very proactive about fixing them! Check out the forum and you'll see what I mean. The Help file is complete but really in need of a revamp; sometimes difficult to find what you are looking for.
SummaryThis should be at the top of your list when looking for a Windows-based code editor. I've tried all of the free & shareware editors and found this to be the most capable. RJ Texted also holds its own against commercial editors. It really needs wider recognition and you should send the author some money for this great program. Unhesitatingly five stars!

ProsUser defined syntax highlighting works well.User defined code folding works well.
ConsToo complex. I am a bit afraid that I will accidentally click on something that I shouldn't.Too much screen space devoted to functions I probably will not use.

SummaryI am very surprised that this product is free. I used commercial editor PHPDesigner but when I have found this editor - have refused using all other products. It is really best editor.

ProsFast, efficient, supports lots of programming languages and the ones it doesn't support out-of-the-box can be imported from UltraEditor's wordfiles and converted to the Texted format.
ConsSome of the code folding for programming languages is a little hard to get working without a lot of manual effort with the syntax editor.
SummaryI use it for editing scripts and programs I'm writing and it has all the features I need. I was using Programmer's Notepad prior to this, but the syntax files (schemes) are impossible to edit and make work. This has a syntax editor built in, and although it's not completely simple to use, with enough effort, you can figure it out pretty quickly. This program also has a portable version that doesn't need to be installed, and the configuration files are 100% compatible with the installable version so you can take your settings with you.
It is updated on a regular basis (as of when I wrote this) and the author is very accessible and friendly to suggestions and comments on his site's forums. I don't think you'll find an easier, friendlier, or feature rich text editor especially for free. You won't go wrong giving this one a try.

Prosi have it i like it i use it it has everything you need html, hml, text, spell checker, color font change, and many other fun stuff its free its half the memory of microsoft office if your looking for a free program that can do what microsft office can this is for you it doesnt have all the features of micrsoft office just half the tools of micrsoft office and options fast and easy.

- auto code completion!
- you can preview your codes in the program with the localhost running in the preview!
- you can use many skins and also make your own one.
- Spell checker! and you can install many dictionaries.
- you can customize it to your taste and you can add menus of whatever you like!
- convert between coding file types.
- many languages are available and you can make your language file.
- so many amazing tiny functions. (auto save, code folding, printing customization, ... etc. )
Consabosolutely nothing!

Prosextreamly easy to use takes up less memory i have 3.7 version i wouldnt what this type is cappable of i recomend it to anyone best part its free, have spellchecker, and you can save your files into any type format that there is small amount of example text, flash, html, xml and many others you wont be dissapointed by this program.
