Teleport Pro

Teleport Pro is a fully automated, multithreaded, link-following, file-retrieving webspider. It will retrieve all the files you want and only the files you want from any part of the Internet. Teleport Pro can completely copy a website, enabling you to 'offline browse' the site at much greater speeds than if you were to browse the site online, search a website for files of a certain type (and even size) and make exact duplicates of websites.

"It didn't work"

February 13, 2015

Version: Teleport Pro 1.69

ProsDidn't download a virus
ConsIt did nothing
SummaryI wanted to backup my Pinterest page. It didn't work. HTTPtrack did it for me. Maybe I did something wrong, but I followed the wizard, and it saved nothing. Very Old program, could be part of the problem.

"Good for what it does"

December 14, 2010

Version: Teleport Pro 1.62

ProsExtremely fast at grabbing sites.
ConsNot user friendly. Gotta kinda figure things out on your own.
SummaryIt's not a tool for hacking - but it CAN be used to create PHISHING sites! Because it downloads the pages and images which can be viewed offline, a site can be reconstructed as a phishing site - with all the original images and code. It is also great for downloading all the images of a gallery at once. Beyond this, I am not sure I understand the use of a program like this.

"An excellent program -- I have been using for years."

Version: Teleport Pro 1.62

ProsTeleport Pro does a first-rate job. To criticize it as hard to use or somehow permits you to hack a web site is nonsense. Yes, I do recommend you use all the instructions all the way through before just firing it off.
ConsCareful not to set this program to copying some huge web site without setting a time or space limit, or you will wake up in the morning and find your hard drive is filling up.
SummaryExcellent program. I have used other programs over the years, but I have found nothing as dependable and full-featured as Teleport Pro.

"No legitimate use for this unless you?re a HACKER"

June 24, 2010
 |
By genehere

 |
Version: Teleport Pro 1.62

ProsAbsolutely None
ConsThis software allows hackers to steal sites for profits temporarily. If you want to go to jail use this software the FBI Internet Crime dept is also now aware of this malicious product and will prosecute thieves. No matter country you try to hide in.
SummaryBeing a victim of this malicious software has cost me thousands of dollars tracking down the thief?s who steal legitimate web sites and then run Google word ads for profit. It pretty obvious that CNET has not done any investigation for the use of this software that breaks firewalls for the sole purpose of stealing someone else hard work. Be advised that Google is now fully aware of this software and filing a DMCA complaint will result in the cancelation of the thief?s word ad account thus providing no more reason to steal. Additionally copying legitimate web sites creates duplicate content a Google penalty for site copied. So if your site is copied be sure to contact Google right away and they will remove the penalty and do some cool stuff to the hacker especially if they have copied a bunch of sites and use word ads. Basically every site can be tracked and Google will cancel all their accounts and blacklist them and not pay them. Ha Ha hackers I won a battle. Updated on Jun 24, 2010What a surprise this link above "CNET staff on July 15, 2009" returns a 404 error. CNET should be ashamed of this review as it promotes hacking. How would CNET like to become a victim of this software? CNET should step and help prevent internet crime instead of promoting it. ?With its uncomfortable navigation and difficult Web site viewing, we have tested more user-friendly offline browsers.? Come on! No One views content off line and why would someone copy a 20,000 page web site except to exploit it. CNET would probably pay closer attention to its Staff reviews if it was held liable for the damages it causes by allowing these types of software to be easily downloaded with reviews from them. Perhaps a lawsuit for damages would give CNET a social conscience about promoting hacking.

You are of course, correct. The internet enables copy-rite infringement and should be disconnected immediately, everywhere, for everyone. That will certainly eliminate the possibility of abuse. Or you might envision that just because you cannot imagine a use for a thing that no one can. There were undoubtedly those who saw no purpose to agriculture or the internal combustion engine either. I posit the use of this program, for instance for those who might subscribe to a site that permits the download of many individual files, the nature of which I shall leave to your imagination. Now, individually downloading these files is, I would think, immensely tedious. So now we have discovered a use for the program that does not involve DMCA or Google word ads or hackers or anything hysterical at all. Hmm.

First of all, everything said in this post is untrue! I browse offline a lot when I am on the go. About the interface, yes I would say it needs to be worked on by the developers of this software.

I feel for your plight, but just because some people abuse this software, does not mean that it doesn't have a legitimate use. I've used this software for years, and have found it very helpful in designing and troubleshooting my own websites. I have also used it to download sites that contain information that I wanted so refer to later and save for future use. Many websites come and go and change and delete their content. If I find a particular website with a lot of information that is useful to me, then I can download it and save and organize the content later, for my own personal use, when I want to recall that information in the future.Furthermore, this program is extremely valuable for copying my own websites onto CD and DVD for distribution of information on those formats. The charge that this software is useful only to a hacker is simply incorrect and shortsighted. As I've shown, it can be used for building websites, archiving information, and distribution.
